Rebecca says, “We are both such feminists and have shared that acknowledgement of the power of women. We’re both part of the sisterhood.” “I am her biggest fan,” Cokie says of Rebecca. “She is one of the most extraordinary people I know -- doing the balancing act of

Congratulations on the fantastic event the Foundation hosted today. I have been to several of these and this was tops. The timing of this event, however, turned out to be propitious. Who knew that October 15 would find itself ensconced within an economic environment full of unknowns alongside not a small amount of gloominess for leaders in our nonprofit and foundation community? What a better time, then, and what a grand opportunity for us to collectively take a deep breath - something that September and October so far has often deprived us of. Today's event allowed for a moment to relieve the pressure of the markets, those 401Ks and all those uncertainties, and look in a different direction...whatever may lie ahead of October 15, it was well worth declaring that there are strong foundations (in more than one sense of the word) like The Women's Foundation that serve as a mooring to keep us afloat, pointed in the right direction and moving forward. I am proud to be associated in some small way with this work." --Eduardo Romero, Nonprofit Roundtable
"Let me add to what I imagine are rave reviews for today's lunch. What a compelling story! I still marvel at how much the Women's Foundation has accomplished in such a short period of time. I look forward to collaborating with you and your staff in the months to come." --Andrea Strauss Dettelbach, Center for Inspired Teaching
"I just want to congratulate you on a wonderful luncheon. I've been to lots of luncheons, all for very good causes, but this was the best. It was interesting and inspiring....I've always been proud to be involved in The Women's Foundation, but I'm feeling especially proud today! --Nancy Minkoff, Rainmaker
"WOW!!! You had a who's who of Washington women there, and it was marvelous to see…everyone considering our common ground, not our differences…All of our guests were just dazzled and loved being there, many for the first time. --Marie Mann Bibbs, Executive Vice President, City First Bank of DC
"Congratulations on another wonderful event! Each time I attend the Leadership Luncheon, I leave feeling energized and filled with hope." --Rebecca S. Manicone, Rainmaker
"I know I already said this at the lunch, but I wanted to officially congratulate you for today’s spectacular event. I started getting chills about 10 seconds in, cried twice and felt the overwhelming power of the work you all do." --Susan Hasten, AXISCommunications and a volunteer member of The Women's Foundation's Communications Committee
"I think you accomplished everything you set out to do: Inspiration, Transformation, Connection, and Community. Applause! Applause! Applause!" --Leonade R. Jones, board member
"Congratulations on pulling together such an incredible event! We sat with the Girls Scouts and had so much fun (and most of us cried a little during the presentation)...You do a great job of creating community and making your donors feel empowered and connected to each other and I’m very excited to be part of that." --Taylor Wilhlem, Polaris Project, a Grantee Partner of The Women's Foundation
"I wanted to thank you for all your hard work, your kindness and the opportunity to share my story with so many wonderful people. It was a honor to be there and to be able to help you in your selfless journey as you strive to help women and girls in the Washington area." --Linda Butler, 2008 Leadership Luncheon success story speaker
"I had the pleasure of attending your luncheon this Wednesday...what an engaging program and what amazing work your foundation accomplishes!" --Lis Ghadar

"Every year, I am inspired by the women at the Leadership Luncheon, and this year was no exception! What an amazing event! After the luncheon, I was so energized by the desire to change lives that I volunteered to co-chair the 1K Club." --Wendy Weaver, 1K Club Co-Chair (More from Wendy) "It is rejuvenating to be surrounded by people who are so excited about the work we are all doing for women and children in the DC area!" --Marian Siegel, Executive Director, Housing Counseling Services "Congratulations for pulling off such a tremendously successful luncheon! What an amazing and significant event it was, in so many ways..I was glad to bring my guests, three kindred spirit “sisters” who lead the Montgomery County Community Foundation as well as other nonprofit ventures in Montgomery County." --Lisa Claudy Fleishman, member of Washington 100 Register for the luncheon now!
